Grace & Frankie – So that’s where the women went

grace_key_002_h[1]Netflix recently released the second season of their Netflix Original series Grace and Frankie, starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

These women have long careers as powerhouse actresses, and it’s fabulous fun to watch them bring comedy to their golden years. Martin Sheen and Sam Waterson appear as their respective ex-husbands and round out a talented cast. In Grace & Frankie, the two men discovered late in life that they loved one another and divorced their wives to be with each other.

Grace and Frankie, the two titular women, never had much in common except for their husband’s friendship. The series takes a light approach to dealing with divorce and betray. The two women are thrust together to deal with their hurt emotions and the trials of being newly single in their late 70s. If you thought romance was complicated for the young, think of the baggage brought back to life after decades of marriage.

We haven’t had this much fun watching elderly women roommates since Golden Girls.

It’s refreshing to see women so vital and funny rise to the occasion. They’re creating new lives for themselves. They have romances, but their relationship with their families and each other is at the core of the show.

The series is in its second season. It received 8.1 out of 10 on IMDB.
